Had the pleasure of enjoying The Pinto Bennett trio at the old/new/original Shorty's Tuesday night. Pinto has never sounded better. Listening to his vibrant song writing and clear vocals is like sitting down to an home cooked meal. Pure comfort. Pinto is an Idaho treasure. Don't miss the chance to see the Pinto Bennett trio this weekend at Shorty's.
Swans
About 6,580,000. . . The number of hits you get if you search google for "Boise, Idaho." What in the world could all of those listings be. I got bored at 100-"Boise Weekly - Not Your Everyday Newspaper." Too bad you can't go to the last listing. You got to wonder what it is.
If it is NOT true, it can still be a rumor, right?
Well, I might be wrong about Big jack being the new morning guy on magic 93.1. One thing is likely, he will turn up soon. Just might be wrong about where. D'oh!
If it is true, it can still be a rumor, right?
Big Jack will be returning to Boise radio soon. Look(guess it would be listen) for my former Kool neighbor and all around nice guy at KZMG Magic 93.1. Guess they sold that big yellow ambulance to soon. Maybe they can pick up a used van- cheap.

Check this local band site out. You will thoroughly enjoy reading the bio's. Trent Maugham was nice enough to link www.boisee.com to it and no good deed shall go unpunished. With powerhouse singer Jon Laufenburger and Russ "thing" Martin on guitar, I am amazed they haven't crossed my path of late. It is a priority now.
Pressure
Do I really need to post every day? It makes me smile that so many of you look at Boisee.com every day. I'll try to at least put up a link or a photo every day. Have something I need to write about? Let me know-I need the help.

Statesman Prints-No One Knows!
It is almost impossible to believe the fading importance of the local Dailey. Even thought my family was unfairly lambasted and and I was quoted, more people commented on the story on this blog - "It Took Moxie" than mentioned the Statesman article. The day the story ran, it was 6:00 pm before Ann Felton discussed it and she was also quoted! Guess everyone uses the Statesment to line their parrot cages.
Fat Tuesday
Careful who you call a "lowly spud?"
HOT OFF THE REUTERS PRESS> > > Idaho's image becomes hot potato SALMON, Idaho (Reuters) - A state lawmaker wants to peel Idaho's standard license plate of the legend "Famous Potatoes" in a battle over whether the lowly spud should symbolize a state whose major export is high technology. Republican Sen. Hal Bunderson said the slogan no longer has resonance for a state whose population and commerce have undergone a seismic shift in the 46 years since the motto was first stamped on Idaho's license plates.
"Other than as a consumer, the majority of people in Idaho have no connection to 'Famous Potatoes,'" said Bunderson, whose potato proposal will be heard by a state transportation panel on Thursday.
Besides, he said, the potato has fallen from agricultural grace, dropping from the state's top-earning agricultural commodity to No. 3 behind milk and livestock.
Frank Muir, president of the Idaho Potato Commission, is irked over the proposal, which he says undercuts the spud's considerable contributions to the state. After beating back the onslaught of low-carb diets in recent years, the last thing the Idaho potato industry expected was to be mashed at home, he said.
"We don't have to be embarrassed by our agricultural roots. Why not be proud of your potato?" he said.
www.rogue-radio.com
Sometimes you run across something that "just works." That was my impression of rogue-radio.com In the corporate radio, ASCAP/BMI, download mp3s and you will be prosecuted world. Ray Fountaine and his wife Deb have figured out a great way to build an internet radio broadcast. They just ask the artist! Using MySpace.com as a base Ray searches for a song he likes. Then e-mails for permission to broadcast. A simple, elegant solution to acquiring rights free music. HIs emphasis is local, but Ray told us "I will play about anything." Spent some time listening over the last couple of days. The mix is decidedly different and slightly hard for me. That said it is very nice to hear a whole bunch of songs I would not get to listen to without ww.rogue-radio.com.
Lent
Doesn't seem that if you adopt Mardi Gras, and Fat Tuesday that you should go all the way and make a sacrifice for Lent? So, since I did enjoy Fat Tuesday(photos soon!), I am giving up rutabagas. No rutabagas for me from now till Easter!
Underscore Success
Three brave young men took the stage by storm this Sunday at the Blues Society Jam. Drummer Max Ball, guitarist Brock Bartel, joined Tyler Aguiar on bass to play some, rock old and new. These 7th graders were well rehearsed and solid.
What were you doing on a sunny Sunday afternoon when you were 12? If you think of it like that it is all the more wonderful. Their performance highlighted that these young men have spent some time working on the music and with each other as a band. Each had interesting solos and backed each other up well. Many youthful memories were stirred and even the most jaded of the old timers were smiling.
Judging from the shy smiles on Max, Brock and Tyler's faces plus the reaction of friends, family and the crowd we will see more success from Underscore.
Don't tell us we don't need music in the schools.
Turn at the Next Exit

Its Monday, here were my fun was! The Reef on Friday was a regular hoot. Next Exit proved the Blues work in Boise. Like the Hoochies last month, the place was a jumpin'. Nancy voice soared over the dancers and the band really jelled with the addition of John "the Baseman" Biseline. Add "in the pocket" drumming, Bruces power harp and tasty guitar and you got The BLUES baby.
If you missed Next Exit, don't fret, they will be part of the BBS Fat Tuesday Celebration for Benefit of "Blues in the Schools." Tuesday Night February 28th.
Want a pair of tickets to Fat Tuesday? Be the 2nd e-mailer. Enjoy!
Never too old!
It is Friday, do you know where you fun is?
Great week of music. Nancy and Next Exit at the Reef tonight. BBS Jam also at the Reef Sunday afternoon and Fat Tuesday Tuesday night. The jam will feature a brand new band of youngsters. One on them was in a Blues in the Schools program. This may be the start of a young blues all-stars band. By the way Tuesday Nights is a benefit for the afore mentioned Blues in the Schools.
