Hi, all. Having trouble getting much of an Internet connection here. Amazingly the south doesn't have a coffee shop of every corner with free WiFI. So I am going to just up load the pics. They tell the story well. Facebook users may have to go to Boisee.com for a full look. Oh, both Lori B! and Blue Diamonds did an exceptional job. However neither reached the finals.
Po' Ohara and Nick Berlin, showed a professionalism way beyond their years. Is was fun to see them bounce up and down Beale Street.
The Blue Diamond at Rum Boogies
I say Lori-You say B!
Lori. . . B.
Southern Style Ranchos Heuvos at The Blue Plate Cafe. How can you not love Ms. Jo & Lissa girl!
From Thursday Nights performance. Lori B! fronts the Diamonds at the Run Boogie Cafe. During the International Blues Competion.
Memphis woke up a lithe hard on Thursday. After a quick walk Lissa and I headed to the historic Blue Plate Cafe for a early lunch of Southern Fried Chicken. Prefect.
Then we headed to Sun Studios. Sun is where Elvis convinced Sam Phillips to let him have a shot at recording. This is hallowed ground, you can feel presence of the legends who recorded here. The tour is simple, but informative. Our tour guide was sweet and gave us a peak at the beginning of Rock. From the 1st and accidental use of distorted guitar, to the story of Rufus Thomas’s first hit Bear Cat. The tour ends in the actual studio where hit after hit were recorded. I left with goose bumps. If you get to Memphis do not miss Sun.
The Boise crowd slowly gathered on Beale for the performances of the BoDo’s and the Blue Diamonds. The ribs at the Blues City Cafe were good, not great.
Stay tuned for more.
On the way yo the international BLues Competition in Memphis, My kid Lissa and I decided to land in Nashville. After crossing the counrty we taxied to "Music Row" to find a drink and listen to some live music. We wandered down Broadway and up 2nd. Sadly bar after bar had bands but not many customers. We settled on dinner at the famous Jacks were if you buy four sauces you get a Free hand rub.
After looking into BB Kings and the Hard Rock we swung through Tooties and ended up at Legends. Dave Parks was manning the stage and brought up Thom Shepard who sang his hit song Dijbouti . We drank till the old white guys danced, then went to a little dive called Doc Hollidays had one more and headed home.
In a bit we will shop at Gruen's guitar, see a couple of museums and head to Memphis. Will likely update y'all on boisee.com tomorrow.
One of my oldest friends told me he finds my work "abstract." Took it as a compliment. This is literal and abstract to me, you?
Posted this early-never sure what FB will do with a Boisee.com post!
There is something off putting about this one.
Is that right?
As things begin to slow down for the year, I have decided to work on a new set of images called Elements. Fire, water, wind, earth.
I am going to see if can't print them on metal. Here is the 1st one. BTW, took this with my new camera-"whiskey III."
How about a beautiful snow scene. I think I will call this winter destination.
Late last week-so early this.
Took this Thursday AM. Look close and you can see the new Lincoln statue
Found this list, tweaked it a bit. 1. Focus your eyes just slightly above the camera lens, move your face forward a bit, and tip down your chin. (some of us need to remember this last bit more then others.
2. Put your tongue behind your teeth and smile, which will relax your face.
3. Keep your arms by your side—but not glued there. To look natural, they should be a little away from your body.
5. Avoid the bold, Checks, stripes and colors can take away from your.
6. Easy Does it, so go easy on the makeup. For women under 30, a little mascara and lip gloss; over 30, add a touch of concealer.
7. Turn, baby turn. Turn your body three quarters of the way toward the camera, with one foot in front of the other and one shoulder closer to the photographer. When you face forward, your body tends to look wider.
8. Belly in, buttocks tight, shoulders back, spine straight.
9. Watch the pretty people. Look at your best angle. You’ll probably see that you were laughing or having a good time. Capturing someone when they’re relaxed or most animated usually makes for the best results.
10. Chill, try closing your eyes, then opening them slowly just before the photo is taken.
