Idaho-Roy Rogers

228055.jpg "Idaho" has all of the characteristics that one expects in a Roy Rogers feature, and it works pretty well as light entertainment. Roy takes on some rather inept villains, while trying to win the girl, and there is a little singing, some comic relief (this time from Smiley Burnette), and some very short scenic shots meant to suggest the hills of Idaho.

The story concerns a respected judge who is trying to clean up a saloon run by the notorious Belle Bonner. Belle has discovered some secrets about the judge's past, and she has her brutish accomplices try to frame the judge for some of their own crimes. Deputy Roy trusts the judge, but his boss does not, setting up a fast-paced if mostly predictable story.

This is very much a normal Roy Rogers film, decent light entertainment without any surprises.

Wayne Coyle to leave Rocci Johnson Band.. NOPE

Sorry all! Paul was apparently wrong on this. Fun while it lasted.

....because he's been picked up by Dishwalla who was recently Re-Signed and was short a guitarist. Although not mentioned on the website, I was assured by another local musician Wayne is leaving his house gig of over 12 years to play on the road. Wayne is an AMAZING guitarist, and anyone who has heard the RJB do 'Shine on you crazy Diamond' at Hanna's (without Rocci) won't surprised he was snagged by Dishwalla. Nor will anyone who has known Wayne and followed his career. By the way, Dishwalla's bass player has been Bill Liles replacement at Hanna's since he left the RJB. Obviously he's leaving her band too.....

You heard it here first.

pp

Thanks Paul, this is great news. No one deserves a brighter spotlight than Wayne. Coyle is a long time friend, hell he used to work at Wizzards. If anyone has an email for Wayne send it my way via boisee(at)gmail.com.

GRAVEYARD FRAME-Quartertons

Graveyard FrameQuartertons

Nathan Jay Moody has a charm that lights up a stage. It would be easy to worry that Graveyard Frame from NJM’s Quartertons wouldn’t be able to capture the swagger and delight that flows from the stage as they play around town.

No problem here!

Not that the studio setting doesn’t lend an additional complexity to the lead guitar mastery of Nathan Jay or the that the intensity of the lyrics and vocals isn't more polished and powerful. It just that you can almost still feel the smokey bar, and the click of glasses somewhere in the background.

Graveyard is an easy listen. It grips you and keeps you listening. Nathan uses his guitars fret broad like gymnast Mary Lou Retton used those bar things. Swinging back and forth, then nailing the dismount. Good thing the solid and stoic Cory is around to keep things from spinning out of control or someone might get hurt!

Will admit I like the Quartertons best when they slow down and play blues. SRV fans will enjoy Blood Red Texas Moon, Crying in the Rain. Looking for a rocker, how about, Lovin’ Gun. My favorite has to be Little Piece o’ Lightin’. It is truly from the streets of Memphis. You shoulda' been there. Black in Blue is a very close 2nd

Also a quick word about the production of this CD. The graphics, photos, recording and the whole package are first rate. Kudos to all involved.

Gas Price plummets-crashes the $4.00 floor.

Media in frenzy, says economy to rebound.

NOT!

Except I did buy gas at 3.96(Costco).

Long time readers know all about this rant. So I will keep it short. We will see gas at $3.50, before $4.50. Not that this great news will be heard anywhere, since it is good news for us ungodly car drivers.  If I am wrong I will buy my son and Rick O a drink!

All quiet here-you?

After a month or so of fast and furious news and events, it has become very boring in the world of Boisee.com. Even went dumpster diving at the Riders/Connector. Nothing but sheetrock. Looks like the owners are opening it up to be an office. Got anything?, let me know.

Your waiter said what? Readers Digest

13 Things Your Waiter Won't Tell YouWaiters share insider secrets about restaurant -- from what days to avoid dining out to how much to tip. From Reader's Digest

1. Avoid eating out on holidays and Saturday nights. The sheer volume of customers guarantees that most kitchens will be pushed beyond their ability to produce a high-quality dish.

2. There are almost never any sick days in the restaurant business. A busboy with a kid to support isn't going to stay home and miss out on $100 because he's got strep throat. And these are the people handling your food.

3. When customers' dissatisfaction devolves into personal attacks, adulterating food or drink is a convenient way for servers to exact covert vengeance. Waiters can and do spit in people's food.

4. Never say "I'm friends with the owner." Restaurant owners don't have friends. This marks you as a clueless poseur the moment you walk in the door.

5. Treat others as you want to be treated. (Yes, people need to be reminded of this.)

6. Don't snap your fingers to get our attention. Remember, we have shears that cut through bone in the kitchen.

7. Don't order meals that aren't on the menu. You're forcing the chef to cook something he doesn't make on a regular basis. If he makes the same entrée 10,000 times a month, the odds are good that the dish will be a home run every time.

8. Splitting entrées is okay, but don't ask for water, lemon, and sugar so you can make your own lemonade. What's next, grapes so you can press your own wine?

9. If you find a waiter you like, always ask to be seated in his or her section. Tell all your friends so they'll start asking for that server as well. You've just made that waiter look indispensable to the owner. The server will be grateful and take good care of you.

10. If you can't afford to leave a tip, you can't afford to eat in the restaurant. Servers could be giving 20 to 40 percent to the busboys, bartenders, maître d', or hostess.

11. Always examine the check. Sometimes large parties are unaware that a gratuity has been added to the bill, so they tip on top of it. Waiters "facilitate" this error. It's dishonest, it's wrong-and I did it all the time.

12. If you want to hang out, that's fine. But increase the tip to make up for money the server would have made if he or she had had another seating at that table.

13. Never, ever come in 15 minutes before closing time. The cooks are tired and will cook your dinner right away. So while you're chitchatting over salads, your entrées will be languishing under the heat lamp while the dishwasher is spraying industrial-strength, carcinogenic cleaning solvents in their immediate vicinity.

Sunday Blues Baby

It is time for the annual BBS Blues Picnic. Come down and see this fun line up of music. I'll be behind the mic and the beer taps both. Should be fun. Remember we are in JD not Ann Morrison. Over by the tennis courts. If you are really old just go to the Fun Spot!!! Starts at noon.
