No phone-Or you can't hear me now!

Well it is so amazingly, stunningly beautiful here in Yosemite it doesn't seem that bad to pay .50 cents a minute to blog. Hopefully I will find a better  source soon. Otta $-back soon. Have gotten one good photo, but no way to post it!!!!!!

Great YOS a Mighty

Going to spend a week in the wilderness. No, not the Nevada dessert-The wilds of California. As wild as CA can get, Yosemite National Park. I will be taking a seminar from the Ansel Adams Gallery taught by Boise’s own Keith Walklett. Hopefully I will be able to get some great photos to share with Boisee.com.

Not sure if I will have internet, but it is the wilds of California. I will likely be able to post after I plug into the "current" bush.

Mr. Big Shot(!)

farney! ad.jpgAs I predicted in Bar scene. The better bartenders in Boise are getting some recognition. With "10 minute" Pat Carden leaving for to join Rex at Chandler's-Kevin Farney(!) is taking over as top dog at Milky Way. So, Micheal will likely go to the new City Grill. Wish I was going to be around more in May. This years Martini Mix-Off might be the most interesting yet. Better yet imagine next year when all these guys are settled in to their new rolls!

The Dan Looney Gallery-McCall

The Looney Gallery in Downtown McCall has excepted and is showing some of my work. The art gallery is in the building just across from the Hotel McCall and features the paintings of the owner Dan Looney. I am very proud to be hanging on the same walls as Dan. His work captures Idaho in a beautiful way. Thanks to Dan and his wife Julie for allowing me to be a part of this collection. Please stop by and take a look at Dan & my work. cascade-web.jpg

At the Market

I am often asked "How do I get my stuff into the City Market?"For an artist the easiest way is to become part of the "Emerging Artist" showcase booth. This is were I got mt start. Even thought I didn't sell a thing, I could see the potential.

Sponsored by Boise Blue, The Beanery and Boise City, it is the perfect way to get your feet wet sort of speak.

Here are the details cortesy of the Boise Weekly

For those who want to be the one behind the booth, Art at the Market announces The Emerging Artist Showcase: Budding artists can showcase their work at one of the booths. Every Saturday through October 27, booth spaces are available for artists interested in exhibiting, and hopefully selling, their artwork. Easels, permit, advertising and general liability insurance will be provided; artists just have to show up with their creations. The sign-up schedule for interested artists is at Boise Blue Art Supply (820 W. Jefferson).

The market runs each Saturday through the end of October from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., 8th Street and the Grove, www.capitalcitypublicmarket.com. For more information about the Emerging Artist Showcase, contact Karen Bubb at the Boise City Arts Commission at 208-433-5677 or kbubb@cityofboise.org.

It’s Market Time

Can you believe it is already time for The Boise City Market. This extravaganza of of food, art and fun will again line 8th street front of Grove to Bannock. The Streetshooters, Greg Harley and my self will be back near our regular haunt in front of the Beanery. Come down and check out all the beautiful hand crafted Idaho products. It will be fun.

Anyone else?-Bouquet

OK, this really isn’t even at the innuendo stage, can’t so much as call it a rumor even. However there are slight rumblings that Eric and Lee are entertaining offers on the Bouquet. Anyone else know anything?

If it is true you heard it here first. If not, well. . . I get to post one of my favorite photos!

Night life- The right life

Been kinda tough on the bars of late. Think it is time to balance the score.

Here are a few simple things you can do to make you a "bar star."
1)TIP-period-TIP. If you have a problem with your drink order, or some other complaint-tip anyway. Complain to the management and then post your bitch on the internet! The server most likely had nothing to do with your dissatisfaction and should not be punished for it.martihits3-web.jpg 2) Know what your are ordering. If you want a specific type of liquor, order it. If you like Gray Goose say so. Don’t assume just because you are a "regular," or they have made your Flaming Monkey Nut once they know what is in it. Yes, your special, just not that special! 4) Avoid high maintenance drinks. Very helpful especially if it is busy. So no blender drinks, or 10 minute martinis when the bar is packed. 5)Only order the drinks you are paying for! Don’t get “the guy over there” a drink and expect the server to track him down for paying. You order-you pay. 6) Pay cash-it’s safer and quicker for all. The only possible exception is if you are going to stay in one place all night. By one place I don’t mean moving all over the bar. Ordering drinks from whomever. One bartender or server per card! 7)Watch out for your friends. If they are getting to drunk or headed for a fight-get them to sit down and quit making an ass of themselves. They, you and the bar will be better off.

Monday Follies-Stinker History

In the old days as you traveled Southern Idaho and Northern Nevada. The “Stinker” (home of Fearless Feris) station was about the only independent gas station. The big guys like Conoco, and American had most of the gas tied up. One of the way the Stinker Stations competed was with a series of roadside ads. On one side there was a normal three miles to gas sign. On the other sign something witty. My favorite was placed in a field near Bliss. Lava rocks were strewn over the landscape. Their natural shape rounded and most of the boulders are around three feet around. As you went by at 50 or 60 mph, they did (still do) look like blackwater melons. The rocks are still around, the signs are only photographs and memories. 37675780_o.jpg

Tap-a-Keg-Elliots-Riders

On the edge of downtown, there use to be a "good 'ol Boys" bar. Usually Beer and Wine. For a time it featured a band or two. Now it's a parking lot.

Can you see what's left of a hand holding a beer in the ruble?Tap-a-keg.jpg
