This one is hard to write. My friend Chris McClaskey is sick, Really sick. The doctors say it's terminal, I hope they are wrong. If you have been to the City Market, you might have seen him. He and his family sell Gladiolas and produce. His dad is the smiling guy in the Pith Helmet and a handful of flowers.
Chris loves photography, he comes to my market booth and we talk pictures. His images of airplanes are my favorites.
Here is the deal. A bunch of his friends are trying to raise enough money to send this family to California to the Air and Space Museum. The family was gracious enought to let me take their portrait for the poster. What struck me the most was their courage. I can not imagine how I could go on if one of my kids was this sick, wouldn't you just want to curl up in a ball? Yet the McClaskeys laughed and smiled and they took me to a very special spot that overlooked the Snake and the Ohywees. I am gratful to know them.
We are having a benifit dinner and there is an on-line "Chip-in" account and a website: www.awishforchris.com
The details are at http://www.awishforchris.com. Good wishes, prayers, karma, doanations, press, or the simple act of speading the word are all appreciated.
