Monday Follies-Idaho Investment Plan

IDAHO RETIREMENT PLANNING FOR 2008

If you had purchased $1,000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be worth $49.00.

With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1, 000.00.

With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left.

If you had purchased $1,000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left

But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, You would have had $214.00. Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle. It's called the 401-Keg.

BOISEE.com to become “MicroBlog”-Update W/comments!

Didn't really think I would fool any of the ever so smart readers of Boisee.com on April 1. However the comments from the usual suspects or “n’r do wells” are quite amusing. Thanks for playing!

  1. Kind of like drinking a delicious cup of coffee from a Starbucks cup. Congratulations! Think I’ll surf on over to Denverrr.com, I hear they’re with McDonalds now and part of the McBlog Mccommunity of blogs. Comment by Lee — April 1, 2008 @ 10:24 am
  2. lee, you crack me up! hehehe Comment by Dr. Dave — April 1, 2008 @ 11:22 am
  3. Looks like Bill Gates’ new best friend is buying drinks for the entire month of April. Or is is MicroApril? Whatever it is, they’ll be releasing software patches to fix “security vulnerabilities discovered by third parties” in the next couple of days. According to my user agreement, I was never promised that MicroApril would run error-free on my calendar, anyway. Bastards. Comment by Rick Overton — April 1, 2008 @ 1:17 pm
  4. Press Release Dateline Boise, Idaho Flush with cash after being “acquired” by Microsoft, David announced the soon to happen opening of D-Day Bouquet, an old school Blues Bar. Local drunks and an assortment of “n’r do wells” are lining up to wish him well. Hoochie men everywhere are grinning ear to ear with some salivating (sounds mo’ bettah than drooling) at the thought.Comment by Don O — April 1, 2008 @ 2:15 pm
  5. The new D-Day Bouqet will undoubtably be selling, a-hem, micro-brews. Comment by Lee — April 1, 2008 @ 7:15 pm

Bouquet to become Bucket?-Update

The Morning paper is reporting that they Bouquet at will not become the Bucket.  Also it won’t be a big surprise to anyone that has been in the basement. There will not be a Speakeasy below. Boisee is thinkin' that access would have almost certainly required an ADA sized elevator. Not the spiral staircase which currently gets you to the dungeon! Thanks to Buddha John for being the last newspaper reader.

Gustos-Or does Jazz go with Mac and Charlie's?

The bar next to Mac & Charlie's is going to move toward Jazz. Changing their targeting statement to "Gusto's A Boise Jazz Venue."IMG_00091.JPG Seems an odd fit for the sister bar of M&C's but you gotta love anyone downtown doing LIVE music. 509 Main, Boise, ID. 83702

BTW when I walked by after the Mike Zito show last night at maybe 12:30. They bar was blasting a very heavy hip hop beat. No jazz!!

Moons

The new owners of the legendary Moon's Cafe are shaking things up. Look for late night food on the weekends and live music. More info to come.

So Sad-Kathy Kendall

Sad news, one of downtowns best is gone. . . former Piper Pub manager Tim Kendall posted this news. . . Not sure what the best way to get a hold of you, hope this works. Kathy Kendall, A bartender during the time the Piper Pub was a very special place passed away March 16th. She won over all of the regulars, at that time, and was determined to make everyone have fun. I know quite a few people who read this daily either worked or knew Kathy. Your site is great and is fun to read. She did pour you a few! The cause of her death was due to a very wicked infection in her blood that caused, among other things, complete renal failure. There will be a memorial web site - www.kathykendall.net set up in the next few days. Thanks! Tim

Tim was kind enought to send along these wonderful pictures of Kathy.

Thanks Tim, our thoughts are with you. Kathleen Kendall.jpg Honduras.jpg
