Interesting:If you type in The Cactus Bar and the “under the exp. Bartender Wanted sign” Overland Bar, Citysearch recommends the End Zone.

Terrapin-Blues

Here is a fun one from the Terrapin Station

I am just shooting you this email in hopes you could tell your Blues Society folks about the special show we are doing this Saturday night. We have Scott Wallenburg with the Blues Addicts as well as Nick's (Red Hot & Blues) new band Inanna's Temple. To help get the support in for them we are running a Blues Society special. Blues Society members identify themselves at the door to Eric and he will give them 2 free drink coupons; 1 valid for Saturday night & 1 valid for Sunday afternoon during the Jam Session. The cover is only $3.00 at the door for 2 great bands.

Thanks so much!

The futures in the Crystal Ballroom.

Rumors confirmed and otherwise have the Bouquet Boys giving up the once lucrative Crystal Ballroom contract. Why?

Will admit to predicting trouble in Bouquet land before only to see them survive. So I won’t speculate this time.

As for the historically beautiful Crystal? Insiders see a “lively” future.

Backwards, really? Oh, yeah, I guess it is!

Been ask, why didn’t you just reverse the sign in Photoshop? The simple answer is the picture is better this way. Taken at dusk, (duh) the sunset over the library was beautiful. Originally I wanted the library sign in the picture, but it didn’t lineup. As the light was rapidly fading I stepped across the street, the lights on the arch came on and I shot this image. By the way, this wasn’t taken with any of my “Pro” Canon camera. My little digital captured this one!

People often tell me “I don’t have the right camera to take good pictures." That is like saying, I can’t write because I don’t have a computer! All it takes is a pencil and a scrap of paper!

Lesson Learned: The first thing you see is not always the best picture. Sometimes seeing "backwards" is looking forward. Tech Stuff: Camera-Panasonic DMZ AKA: The action cam F stop-f3.5 Shutter Speed 1/30 ISO-160

Oly no More

It was just a tiny bar off of Grove. I was only there once. Didn't find it exactly "straight friendly." I read someplace that gay bars are slowly disappearing as the world becomes more diverse and accepting. Gotta be a good thing, but not for the old Oly Bar.web-0042.jpg

Morning snow-afternoon sun. A common winter day in Boise. This shot comes from a walk down 9th street. Just above Angell’s patio trees line the street. Their bright red berries must not taste good to the birds. Long after the varmints have gathered all the other berries and nuts these still linger. The stark white of the snow contrasted with the blue sky and the red fruit. However it wasn’t until I noticed the round red shape against the edgy lines of the building that the photo “popped.”

Lesions Learned: Work the angles Watch the weather
